Music and the Arts

Music and the arts are an integral part of Montessori learning and of every student's studies at MIR.

All students receive music instruction. All students participate in the annual Holiday Sing, a musical performance held at the University of Redlands just before the winter holidays. The school is equipped with several pianos.

Elementary students engage in the dramatic arts (plays and musicals) as a standard part of the Elementary program and have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular dance and choir. They also receive formal art instruction from their teachers. The pictures below show selections from the spring Elementary arts exhibition.

Before- and Afterschool Arts

Elementary children in our childcare program will have lots of opportunities to participate in music, arts, and Spanish activities in childcare. They may also sign up for Elementary Dance, which performs at the annual Holiday Sing.
