Process and Policies

We appreciate your interest in MIR and look forward to meeting with you.

Process

1. Submit an inquiry form.

2. Complete the observation.
During the physical closure of our campus, the observation will involve a virtual tour, watching a video that shows you the learning environment for your child, and meeting via video conference with administrative staff.

Observations are required for all age groups. In two-parent households, both parents/guardians are required to attend. A child cannot be admitted before both have completed an observation.

3. Submit an application.
Applications for the 2020-21 school year will be accepted March 9-May 18, 2020.

After the observation, you will be able to complete an application online and pay the application fee of $500. Submitting an application ensures a spot in our wait pool.

4. Confirm acceptance.
MIR will contact you when space is available for your child. Please notify MIR of any changes to your contact information.

Once you confirm acceptance, you are obligated to take the space and continue with the admissions process.

  • If you choose to delay the start date, you may forfeit the application fee and available space.
  • If space is not available by April of the current school year, you will have the option to request a refund of the application fee or remain in the wait pool for the following school year.

5. Enroll.
When your child is admitted, you will be sent a personalized link to our online Enrollment Contract for completion. You must:

  • Complete all forms.
  • Agree to adhere to the terms of the enrollment contract and the policies in the Parent Handbook & Survival Guide.
  • Pay all applicable enrollment fees.

6. Plan for parent and student meetings.

When your enrollment is complete, you will meet with school administration and your child's teacher for an orientation and interview. Depending on the age of your child, we may also require visiting days.

  • Prior to the meetings, you will receive a new student licensing packet for completion from the admissions office. This packet must be completed and returned to the admissions office before your child's first day of school.

5. Parent and student meetings.

Policies

At MIR, we enroll students year-round depending on space. Admissions are based on a balance of available spaces for each age and program level as well as the child's readiness for the level of independence required in a Montessori classroom.

Admission preference is given in the following order:

  1. Children currently enrolled at MIR.
  2. Siblings of current students, with these conditions:
    • The current students are re-enrolled during the re-enrollment month (February).
    • The older child is completing or on track to complete the full three-year cycle of their program.
  3. Children with a minimum of one full school year of previous Montessori experience.
  4. New applicants.

Sibling Enrollments

If you have a child currently enrolled at MIR and would like to enroll a sibling, call the Admissions Office at 909-793-6989 (ext. 7010) or send an email to admissions@mir.org.

You will need to follow the full admissions process before enrolling siblings. Once you have completed an observation, you can submit sibling applications during the early re-enrollment month (February) for a discounted application fee. Applying during the re-enrollment month does not guarantee a space for the sibling. Siblings are given priority consideration for enrollment.

Admissions

We're delighted that you're considering MIR for your child!

Our physical campus is closed until the end of the 2019-2020 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic (learn more). Montessori education continues through our Montessori Home Learning Program.

Before applying to MIR, we require that parents schedule an observation with the school. With the closure of our physical campus, we are implementing a virtual tour and observation experience for prospective families.

To get started, submit an inquiry form to request your virtual tour.

How do I apply?

For all ages, we accept applications after parents have completed an observation. In a two-parent household, both parents must complete the observation. This process will help you

  • Learn what an authentic, accredited Montessori school with AMI teachers offers your child.
  • See the classroom environment for your child.
  • Understand the school culture and educational philosophy at MIR.
  • Decide if Montessori and MIR are right for your family.

Review the full admissions process and policies to learn the steps involved and our admissions criteria.

Applications for the 2020-21 school year will be accepted March 9-May 18, 2020, following your observation.

How much does MIR cost?

Your tuition rate will depend on your child's program and schedule. Review the rate sheet for a complete breakdown of all rates and payment options for programs and childcare.

Financial assistance is available only to current families who have been enrolled for a year or more. We are unable to accept government assistance vouchers for tuition payments. Learn more »
