Under California Health and Safety Code, Sections 120325-120375, children in California are required to receive certain immunizations in order to attend public and private elementary and secondary schools, child care centers, family day care homes, nursery schools, day nurseries, and developmental centers (pre-kindergarten facilities).
As both a licensed daycare facility and a private elementary school, MIR is required by these statutes to enforce immunization requirements, maintain immunization records of all children enrolled, and submit reports.
For school admittance of students 18 months through 6th grade, acceptable documentation includes a record of receiving all required immunizations as stated from the California Department of Public Health or a medical exemption issued through the California Immunization Registry. These Exemptions FAQs explain the medical exemption in more detail.
Under California Senate Bill (SB) 277, beginning January 1, 2016 parents were no longer able to file exemptions based on personal beliefs, including religious beliefs, to vaccines that are currently required for entry into childcare or school in California.

MIR’s admissions practice regarding unconditional admissions and conditional admissions will be to follow California state law as expressed in this document.
