Educating the Whole Child

Montessori in Redlands is an environment where children begin a life journey of self-realization, love of learning, and global responsibility.

An education at MIR focuses on helping your child develop the cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and executive skills they will need to succeed as adults.

Students engage joyfully in meaningful work at MIR and are encouraged to explore deeply and at their own pace to achieve mastery.

Moral and character development, social development, and executive functioning are included in MIR’s Student Learner Outcomes, which form the basis of education for every student. These areas are reflected in student progress reports.

All students participate in formal physical education with a P.E. teacher and P.E. activities with their class.

Applied and performing arts are part of the curriculum. All students participate in age-appropriate music activities and instruction. Students 3 and older receive instruction in fine arts, music, and dramatic arts.

Students at all levels are exposed to the Spanish language and cultures. MIR's Spanish program emphasizes

  • Communication: Through immersive activities, students learn to speak, comprehend, and read Spanish.
  • Cultural literacy: Students learn about the many varied cultures of Spanish-speaking peoples through exposure to the arts, literature, and music.
