The MIR Toddler Program supports optimal development for children ages 18 months to 3 years. In a safe, home-like environment, your child will experience rich opportunities to explore with all their senses and grow through lots of active interaction with the adults.
From birth to age 3, your child’s brain develops more rapidly than at any other age. More learning takes place at these ages than at any other stage of development.
The MIR Toddler environment is not “daycare.” It is a nurturing learning environment with teachers specially trained to help children in their
This is the sensitive period for acquiring language! The Montessori materials and plenty of one-on-one interactions with the teachers help your child build vocabulary, verbal skills, and communication abilities.
Large movement, physical education, dancing, and free play help your child grow stronger and more coordinated (gross motor skills). Montessori materials help children to use and build their fine motor skills.
Social and Emotional Development
Your child will develop independence, self-control, and care of self and others under the patient guidance of the teachers. Freedom with clear limits lets them practice appropriate behaviors and learn how to be part of a community.
Your child's daily experiences build the neural connections needed for a solid foundation for learning. The Montessori environment encourages the exploration and freedom your child needs to build these connections.
Science strongly supports the Montessori experiential approach to early childhood learning.
The Toddler program is 5 days a week. This ensures a consistent routine and smoother transition for a child beginning in the school environment.
Enrollment options include half-day (9-11:45 am), full-day (9 am-3 pm), and all-day (9 am-5 pm). Morning childcare is available 7:45-9 am.
MIR follows a school-year calendar, with a standard holiday schedule and staff in-service closures. We offer summer school for enrolled families who wish to continue their child’s Montessori education during the summer.
