Why We Do Curb Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Primary and Elementary students are dropped off and picked up via “curb” (carline drop-off/pick-up) for safety, convenience, and to support your child’s independence.
- Safety: Minimizing adults and students crossing the parking lots reduces the chances of someone being injured by cars. We must also carefully track non-staff adults on campus for the safety of all our students.
- Convenience: The carlines move quickly, and the process of getting all students into and out of class on time is greatly improved.
- Independence: Carline drop-off encourages independence among our students, who are ready and willing to enter class on their own or with teacher guidance.
Toddlers are the only group of students walked onto campus by their families. Toddler students are dropped off at the Toddler gate, and teachers take them to class. MIR provides designated parking spaces in front of the Toddler classrooms to simplify this process.
Due to mandated teacher-to-child ratios, students may not stay beyond their program times. MIR closes at 5 pm.
Arrival and Departure Times
The table shows the arrival and departure times for all students. There is no grace period beyond the stated times.
Requests for Late Arrival/Early Departure
- If you will arrive late, please notify MIR using SchoolPass. Check your child in at the MIR office.
- If you will pick up your child early, please notify MIR by emailing attendance@mir.org. Call the MIR office 10-15 minutes before your arrival to ensure your student is ready for you. MIR staff will meet families at the curb with their students unless we’ve asked you to check them out at the office.
We have minimal staff to accommodate “concierge” pick-up and drop-off times. We kindly ask that families aim to drop off and pick up their children during the scheduled times whenever possible.
Please plan extracurricular activities for after your child's school day. We may not have the staff capacity to accommodate early pick-ups in a timely manner.
Car Line Locations
Refer to the maps below for assistance.
- Toddler families enter through the toddler entrance on South Campus, park their cars by the classrooms, and either walk their children up to the Toddler gate or pick them up at the gate.
- Students in South Campus classes (Maple, Palo Verde, Paz, Sycamore, Wisteria) are dropped off and picked up along the curb in the South Campus parking lot. Please stay within the cones marking the lanes.
- Students in North Campus classes (Eucalyptus, Frieden, Manzanita, Pine, Sequoia, Shanti) are dropped off and picked up in the North Campus parking lot. Drop off and pick up Primary and Lower Elementary students on the east (curb) side of the lot. Drop off and pick up Upper Elementary students on the west (street) side of the lot. Be mindful of pedestrians in the parking lot.
- Elementary students in morning or afternoon childcare are all dropped off or picked up on the North Campus, at the curbside of the lot.
If you have students on both campuses, you will need to drop them off and pick them up at their respective locations.
